Book Details-
Book Name- Borderline
Author- Shabri Prasad Singh
Genre- Psychological Fiction
Publisher- Bloomsbury
Pages- 256 pages.

Blurb- With this true life narrative turned fictional, delve into the life and thoughts of Amrita Srivastava.

Harbouring an almost devotional love for her father and unable to cope with the legal separation of her parents, this is the account of how she is subsequently diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and the powerful story of how she eventually overcomes her demons.

Having shifted from Chandigarh to New York to study, Amrita has just about begun to adjust to the new city when her life is thrown into disarray by the death of her father. Acting as a trigger, this event leads to a series of abusive relationships. Forced by a breakdown to leave her studies in New York, she tries to make a new life for herself in Delhi. Unsettled by the continuous changes, Amrita descends into a hard partying lifestyle fuelled by alcohol and drugs. Written as part of her healing process, this is a searing confession about the challenges she faces before finally reaching to the process of rehab and therapy.

Calibrating itself to the turning of the mind’s endlessly churning machinery, this novel gives one the rare opportunity to see it at work. Life affirming and inspiring, this is at the same time a journey that navigates through the loneliness, heartbreak and intensity of Amrita’s approach to life.

Intimate, forceful and raw, Borderline is the catharsis we all need.

Review- Borderline is a psychological Fiction by Shabri Prasad Singh and she serves us an unique plot. There are many surprises in the book which glues readers with the book.

Book Review- Men and Dreams In The Dhauladhar by Kochery Shibu

Book Details-
Book Name- Men and Dreams In The Dhauladhar
Author- Kochery C. Shibu
Genre- Fiction
Publisher- Niyogi Books
Pages- 284 pages

Blurb- A hydelpower project in the remote Himalayas. Three people brought together by fate. Nanda, an engineer from Kerala at the dam construction site hiding from his past, from the law, torn between the love of his dear ones and the traditional kalari code of revenge. Khusru, a boy displaced from his native village in Kashmir, a gambit in the terror plot threatening to blow up the dam, working as a labourer at the site. Rekha, a Kathak dancer in heart, a doctor by profession, arrives at the campsite as the consort of Khusru. A village that accepts the dictates of modernity with a heavy heart, its population steeped in superstitions and religious beliefs.

All throng the campsite like moths to a flame, some escape untouched, successful; some, miss a step, and perish. Each has a story to tell and a dream to realise. Men and Dreams in the Dhauladhar is about the aspirations of these people with their cares and worries woven into the site life. The fury of nature and the hardships of project life have no mercy for the weak and no time for the dead. Like an eternal spectator the Dhauladhar watches as men risk life and limb in a quest to fulfill their dreams.

Review- Men and Dreams in the Dhauladhar is a book with unique plot and story. It attracts your attention from the start but gets monotonous after 100 pages and becomes an average read.

Book Cover and Title- From the cover, book seems to be historical/scientific fiction but this is purely modern age book. Blurb is short, crisp and it creates curiosity about the book. Title is appropriate.

Language and Narration- Language of the book is lucid and easy to comprehend. Writing style of author is simple and easy to follow.  Book is written in third person narrative.
Though there are no grammatical errors in the book.

Characterization- I absolutely loved how author portrayed his characters. Characterization is one of the reason why I completed this book even with too derailed technicality, monotonous story and show paced narration.

Another thing which I liked about this book is all the characters are justified properly with their own story and set of emotions.

Storyline and Plot- Story revolves around Dhauladhar Dam, and characters revolving around Dam, Dhauladhar and construction of Damn. Author has beautifully placed scenes in various places to bind characters with main story.

However, too detailed technicality about various stages of Dam Construction is what bugged me the book. Author could have cut-shorted the book by skipping detailed technicality which adds nothing to the main plot.

Likes- 1. Characterization.
2. Language and Narration
3. Subplots revolving around main central plot.

Dislikes- 1. Story seems monotonous and boring in the middle.

Rating-
Book Cover and Title- 4/5
Language and Narration- 3.5/5
Characterization- 4/5
Storyline and Plot- 2./5

Final Rating- 3/5

Review- 8 Hours by Upendra Namburi is Thriller Fiction novel where author serves us story of Avantika, CEO of ARYA Holdings Ltd and how she saves his company and family in 8 Hours.

Book is surely interesting and well written and serves us an engaging storyline but is stuffed with many characters which is the only thing that bugged me.

Book Title and Cover- Book Title is interesting and creates curiosity about it. Cover is alluring and appropriate. Blurb is interesting and attracts readers to pick up the book. Overall First Impression of this book demands attention of readers.

Language and Narration- Language used by Mr. Namburi is simple yet attractive. Narrating style is commendable and author ends each chapter at such point that readers are forced to turn page after page.

Theme- Theme of this book is strictly thriller. Although it also serves us Suspense, and other elements. I liked the way author directly came to the main point without wasting time.

Characterization- Mr. Namburi skillfully writes about his characters and readers can feel the emotion of Avantika and story through his words. However too many characters without any background made the book tiring.

Storyline and Plot- Plot is unique with detailed description of each and every situation which glue readers with the story. As said earlier, story picks the pace from the first page and readers enjoy every page filled with mystery, suspense and excitement to reveal the truth.

Characterization- 4/5
Storyline and Plot- 3.5/5

Author Interview| In conversation with Gyanesh Sahu

Gyanesh Sahu, the author of Inspirational fiction novel "Start a Start-Up from Start" is a wonderful writer.. Let’s know more about him in the following interview.

Hello Gyanesh,

Can you tell us more about yourself?

I was born and brought up in Bhilai. I did my schooling and graduation from Bhilai. I was born in the middle-class family but I had big dreams in my mind from childhood. So from the childhood, I have been very active in extra curriculum activities. Although I had been good in academics but my life took a turn when I was in 3rd year of engineering. I started an online venture www.saddabazaar.com . But after working for 2 years I got failed. From that point, I wanted to share my story with the world. So I wrote the book.
Right now I am pursuing PGDM from National Insurance Academy, Pune.

When did you start writing?

I had made the plot before 2 years back already but it was just the technical part. But I started to write the fictional part before 6 months. Firstly I wanted to pass my learning just by putting the technical part in my book. But I thought that it will be very boring. So I made fictional chapters Abhimanyu, Shanaya, Soumya, and Shubham. The story keeps running around them.

Who has been your inspiration?

My Mother is my first inspiration in my life. She has always been very supportive for my every venture.  Whenever I get depressed she pushes me to do well.
Apart from this, I came from spiritual background also. So I always have trust in the almighty also.

One more important person in my life is Sandeep Maheshwari. His videos made me realize my real strengths. So I really admire him.

What is your writing Kryptonite?

I feel difficulty while thinking about typical mythological things. So my writing kryptonite is to write about mythology.

What books have most influenced your life?

“The autobiographies of a Yogi “and “Rich dad Poor dad “have influenced my life mostly.  Both of them are completely different books. But both books have imprinted me deeply.

Apart from this, I have been reading many business books also. Rashmi Bansal is my favorite author.  I have read “Connect the dots”, “I have a dream” and “Stay hungry, Stay foolish “of Rashmi Bansal.

Did you learn something while writing this book? What was it?

YES, I have learned many things while writing the book. But the most important thing was Patience. Because the story is like your small kid who does not know that how to speak. So I needed to keep patience while plotting the whole story.
Apart from this, I learned that how do you have to bear criticism for doing the things out of the box.

What are your future projects?

Recently I am working on some short love stories, which will be based on selfless love.  Apart from this, I have decided to write some stories on Hindi also.

If you couldn't be an author, what would your ideal career be?

Well, it’s a pretty simple question for me. I have been very dedicated towards my online venture. So in future also I want to make the career in an online venture.

What advice would you like to give to the budding writers?

My simple advice for is budding writers is to keep writing without worrying about grammatical mistakes, punctuation and other things. Things will take time to settle. The more you write, the more your writing skills will enhance.

One more thing, there are various writing tools are available on the internet. So use it accordingly. It will definitely pave the way for your writing career.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Every successful book becomes successful because of the readers. So I request all my readers that keep reading. Your reviews are very important for me. So that I can improve my writing skills for the future projects.
